Life Cycle Assessment ( LCA ) is the normalized scientific Method according to French INIES Environmental Product Declaration ( EPD ) program. 

Why LCA is the Scientific Method?

LCA is recognized as the normalized scientific method based on several established standards and protocols, including:

• ISO 14040 – 14044
• ISO 14025 EPD Environmental Product Declarations
• EN15804+A2 (specific to the Building Industry) / PEF (specific per product)
• PCF according to TfS Product Category Rules (PCR)
• Various EPD programs

In this blog post, we would like to share information about one of the EPD programs in Europe, specifically in France: the INIES EPD Program.

🔵 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐄𝐒?
- 'INIES is the French national reference database for environmental and health data on construction products and equipment. INIES offers FDES for construction products and Product Environmental Profiles (PEP) for building equipment'.

⚪ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐃𝐄𝐒?
- 'The Framework for the Development of Environment Statistics (FDES)
An FDES is a standardized document which presents the results of the Life Cycle Analysis of a product as well as health information with a view to calculating the environmental and health performance of the building as part of its eco-design'.

🔴 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐃𝐄𝐒?
- 'An FDES provides multi-criteria, objective, quantitative and qualitative information relating to a function and a product’s lifespan in the construction work'.
